Bonehead Du Jour

Normally, I do this kind of thing on DougMorris.net and the radio show. But, I gotta do this here.

Today’s bonehead award goes to the dingbat representative of some PR firm who called the station requesting live satellite interview time for our morning show. Normally, 99.7% of the time, such requests get shot down immediately since they are geared more to a national audience.

Such failure rate just went up to 99.95%. Here’s why. The gal on the phone wanted to know if I was interested in a live interview with Holly Robinson-Peete, cast member of the new WB series Like Family.

Now, here’s the problem. I told her the station I work for is an NBC affiliate and we don’t carry anything from The WB.

She had the nerve to ask, “You mean you don’t cover other shows?”

I responded with a question of my own. “You mean you’re asking our viewers to change the channel? Why on earth would we do something like that?”

Realizing she was fighting a losing battle, the dingbat said, “Oh, uh, well thank you for your time.”

No offense to Holly and The WB. If this were an NBC show, maybe.

  1. That’s like a Gray Davis rep calling Arnold asking him to endorse Davis and do a spot for him at no cost.
